Our Foundation in Christ, Our Confession of Faith
What We Believe
Bethsida Jesus Ministry as a Society is based on the following creed:
- That the Bible is the inspired, infallible and authoritative word of God and the only rule for Christian faith and conduct.
- That there is one true God who is eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit; and is creator of angels, heavens and earth, and is the redeemer of mankind.
- In the deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, His intercessory ministry as the high priest, His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule over the nations.
- In the deity and person of the Holy Spirit and in His sanctifying power which enables a Christian to live a holy life.
- That God created man in his own image and likeness, but man fell into sin by choice, incurring both physical and spiritual death. Therefore, every man needs salvation.
- That salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and repentance towards God.
- That the redemptive work of Jesus provides for divine healing to the human body and deliverance from evil spirits in answer to a believing prayer.
- That water baptism by immersion after repentance is done in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
- That the ordinance of the Holy Communion is for all saved and baptized believers and should be taken regularly until the Lord comes.
- That the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the manifestation of speaking in new tongues as the Spirit gives utterance is God’s promise to all believers.
- That it is a sacred duty of all believers to be church members, to witness, to give tithes and offerings, to respect authority and to honor marriage as taught in the Bible.
- That all people will be bodily raised from the dead. The resurrection and translation of the saved in rapture and the resurrection of the lost to everlasting damnation. The righteous will live eternally with God in heaven. The wicked will suffer eternal punishment in hell
- Marriage:
- We Believe that marriage is honorable and should between two adults male and female who agree to be joined together as husband and wife
- We believe a holy matrimony is between two born again believers of the opposite sex who publicly come and take their vows before the church to live together as husband and wife
- We believe marriage was intended to be a live covenant between couples, after death the one who remains is free to remarry. Divorce is NOT acceptable in the church except as commanded in the word of God (Malachi 2:14-16, 1 Cor. 7:10-15, Mathew 5:31-32; 19:4-9)
